Obituary
James Charles accept Christ at an early age at Washington Chapel Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Jack Glover. Which is now known as Glover Memorial Church of God in Christ where he served under the leadership of Superintendent Larry Ferguson.
James Charles was born in Emerson, Arkansas in a settlement named Doss Town. As James Charles grew up he was given the nickname of “Sam” by his brothers and sisters. He attended McMittress High School in Emerson, AR. James Charles was self-employed in the pulpwood industry for almost 50 years. James married Bobbie Davis and to this union one son, Douglas was born. He later married Velma Williams, to this union one daughter, Sheila was born. James was loved by his family and many friends. He loved fishing and working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Mildred Collins; 5 brothers, Evan & Avan (twins), Edward, Anderson, and Arell Jones.
He leaves to cherish his love and memories: (1) daughter: Sheila Jones Broomfield. (3) sons: Douglas Jones, James K. Jones, and Jarmarcus K. Jones. (6) grandchildren; (1) great-grandchild (4) brothers: Vernell (Gwen), Jerry, Alvin, and Clarence (Margie ) Jones; (4) sisters: Thelma, Mae Evelyn (Jack), Eula Bea, and Ida Faye. (1) aunt: Vera Biddle; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Special memories will be cherished by his longtime companion, Lettie Rie Hildreth.
