Reflections of Life
Sharon Denise Straughter Gooden, age 51, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, August 3, 2012 in Baptist Health Hospital.

Sharon D. Gooden was born in Hope, Arkansas August 14, 1960.  She is the daughter of George and Alice Straughter.

She confessed Christ at an early age, and united with Lonoke Missionary Baptist Church, Hope, Arkansas.  After marriage and moving to Magnolia, Arkansas, she united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Sharon was educated in Hope Public schools, where she graduated from Hope High School in 1978.  She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. She began her professional career in the Hope Public School system.  She later taught at McNeil Elementary School, Walker Elementary School and presently worked at Eastside Elementary School, Magnolia, Arkansas.  She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She was active with the Magnolia Alumnae Chapter.

Sharon was united in marriage to Eddie Gooden in August 8, 1982.  To this union three children were born; Edron, Edena and Edmund Gooden. Sharon loved her family and was friendly to all who knew her.  She had a personality that was outstanding unlike no other, she always carried a great smile.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted husband Eddie Gooden. One daughter, Edena Gooden, two sons, Edron and Edmund Gooden and one granddaughter, Jhenia Scott.  Her parents George and Alice Straughter, grandmother Bernice Straughter, one sister Paula (Charlie) Washington; four sister-in-laws Samantha (Carter Ray) McPeace, Theresa (Phillip) Ford, Floria (Calvin) McGaughy and Karen (Wes) Golson; two brother-in-laws Eligha (Chris) Gooden and Vick (Jennifer) Gooden, and a host of neices and nephews.

She had some very special people in her life Myeasha Jackson, Erica Mallory, Kelly Smith, and Uncle George Gooden, who she called Uncle Sonny, and a host of relatives and friends.
