Obituary
Brother Ray Charles was born November 2, 1960 to Tom Murphy, Jr. and Voncill Baker Murphy. Ray was the second of four children. His brother Arthur Ray Murphy and father Tom Murphy, Jr. preceded him in death.
Bro. Ray Charles joined Pine Hill CME in his youth and remained a faithful member. He served dutifully on the usher board and was the board secretary. He was also a member of the male chorus. Bro. Ray enjoyed Sunday School and looked forward to the morning messages. Bro. Ray Charles was always willing to serve wherever needed.
Bro. Ray Charles graduated from Emerson High School in 1979. He extended his education at Oil Belt Vocational School – El Dorado and received a certification in auto mechanics.
Ray Charles leaves to cherish his memory: sons; Ben Jackson, Deandre Amos, Eric Hardwell, mother; Voncill Murphy, brothers; James Harold Murphy (Peggy), Chris Murphy (Sharon), uncles; Lawrence Baker (Pasty), Winston Murphy (Mamie), aunts; Barbara Cooper, Marilyn Murphy, Marva Morgan and Lucy Baker and a host of relatives & friends.
