Celebrating Her Life
Mrs. Phyllis Thompson was born September 17, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan to Hazel, Sr. and Ophelia Cranford. After the family’s move to Arkansas, she established a beautiful life in Camden, filled with love and laughter. In 1981, Phyllis graduated from Fairview High School.
She dedicated her life to Christ and joined Good Hope Baptist Church. Asan active member, Phyllis sang in the choir and worked in the kitchen. She was an amazing cook and always enjoyed creating new recipes.
For over 20 years, Phyllis worked for Arquest. A passionate advocate for cancer research and awareness, Phyllis successfully chaired the Arquest group at the annual Relay for Life. Outside of work, she loved to shop and had a fabulous sense of fashion. Everyoneknew that Phyllis had “style.”
Phyllis departed this life December 26, 2011 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Her father and siblings Wallace Cranford, Martha S. Evans, Scottie Cranford, and Hazel Cranford, Jr. precede her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, husband Winfred Thompson; four children Lisa Cranford, Akeem Simmons, Kendra Hargrave, and Cody Thompson; one grandson, Zalen Bell; her mother, Mrs. Ophelia Cranford; siblings, Denise Cox, Aloha (John) Clemons, Vethel Woods, Patty (Curtis) Green, and Davie (Lisa) Cranford; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
