He leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Willie McDaniel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Melvin McDaniel, Jr. (Margaret) of Texarkana, Texas; two daughters, Eddie Mae Lee of El Dorado, Arkansas and Bobbie Moore (James) of Magnolia, Arkansas; one sister, Catherine Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy McDaniel of Little Rock, Arkansas and Cathy Lewis of San Francis, California; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
