Obituary


Mr. Melvin Louis Fields was born October 06, 1946 to the late Melvin and Annie B. Fields in Stephens, AR.

Melvin  professed his early belief in Christ at St. Stephens Baptist Church in Stephens, AR, where the late Pete Lambert was pastor.

Melvin Fields was married to  Mrs. Verdia Fields for Thirty-seven years.

Melvin attended Carver High School in Stephens, AR  and later went to college at AM & N in Pine Bluff, AR and was drafted  in the Army, where  he served in Vietnam until April 08, 1968.  Melvin later moved to Chicago and returned back home in 1981. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents, brother: Nelson Ford; sisters: Carole Ann Jackson and Gayle Todd of McNeil, AR; nephews: Jimmy Todd and Qyland Fields and niece: Tracy Todd.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife: Verdia Fields of Pine Bluff, Ar.  His children: Lashawn Fields  of West Helena, Melvin Fields III of Georgia, Neloshia and Lenord, Candeece Lucas  Fields and Marcus Fields all of Pine Bluff, AR; sister Diane Sutton of Mesquite, TX; brother: Johnny Fields of Pine Bluff, AR Two aunts: Ethel Nash and Loraine Hatcher, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and friends, also two true friends: Leo Rattler and Michael Brown.
