OBITUARY

Mattie Bell Woods was born on March 22, 1913 in Milner Community near McNeil in Columbia County, Arkansas.  Her parents were George and Ida Buffington Curry.  At the age of 16, she married Claud Woods. At a young age, she also united as a member with the St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church where she continued until her death.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sons: Rueben, Levell, Curtis and Carl Woods; four brothers: Abner, Johnny, Warren G., and William Curry; four sisters: Edna Armstrong, Anges Johnson, Annie Nesbit, and Jean Curry.  Three grandchildren and one son-in-law preceded her in death.

Mattie is survived by two sons: Norman (Jean) and Claudell (Paula) Woods and three daughters: Ida Mae (Lee V.) Meadows, Ethel Mae (John) Jackson, and Claudine (Eddie) Johnson.  She is also survived by three daughters-in-law: Carleen, Earlie Mae and Jimmie Lee Woods.

Mattie is survived by four siblings, brothers: Clarence (Mary) and James Curry and sisters: Georgia Mae Banks and Carrie Mae (Hosea) Paschal.  She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.

Mattie was the matriarch of the extended Curry and Woods families and will be missed by this family, including her beloved of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
