OBITUARY
On December 20, 2014 the death angel bore the bright spirit of Mattie Mae Brown~Cooper to her heavenly home. She was born on July 25, 1916 in Colquitt, Louisiana and loved and raised by her parents Mattie and Amos Hatter who preceded her in death.
She was one of four children; Lona, Amos and Jim W. (all of whom preceded her in death). Mattie Mae was united in holy matrimony to Roger Brown and to this union two sons were born; Arlester and John Edward (Jack). Upon the death of her sister Lona, Mattie lovingly assumed the role of mother to her ten children. Mattie later remarried, to Arb Cooper who preceded her in death.
Mattie Mae was a member of the Hatter Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where she worshipped with her family and served faithfully until the failing of her health. Aunt Mae was very active in her church with leadership roles as President of the Usher Board (52 years), President Women’s Home Mission, Sunday School Teacher, Church Mother, Adult Choir, Helping Hands Auxiliary, Pastor’s Aide Ministry and Chairperson of Kitchen Ministry for Hatter Chapel and the Louisiana/Arkansas Freewill Baptist Conference.
Our hearts are filled with emotion and sorrow, but we rejoice and thank God for her life which leaves behind laughter, goodness and peace of mind knowing she was a beautiful flower plucked out of the garden by Jesus to become one of the centerpieces of Heaven.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three great-grandsons of Los Angeles, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
