Obituary
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7
Sister Martha Anthony McBride was born May 14, 1931 to her parents Willie Anthony and Louise Barrow Sargent in Bradley, AR. She was the oldest of nine (9) children. She attended school in Bradley and joined Ollie Mae Baptist Church.
On September 7, 2011 in her home, surrounded by her loving family, God plucked a precious flower from his earthly creation.
Sister McBride moved to Magnolia, AR where she met and married Hosie Lee (Jack) McBride on April 21, 1946. Unto this union eight (8) children were born. She united with the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 23, under the leadership of Rev. J.A. Taylor and served faithfully until her declining health. She was a dedicated member of the Senior Choir and the Mission Auxiliary. She devoted much of her time reading the Bible and was in a relentless pursuit of living the Word. She was a scholar in Sunday School Class # 6 and listened attentively. She truly cherished her church family and pastors dearly.
Mother McBride retired from Meadow Brook Lodge in 1996 as a cook. Her loved for preparing meals and “special” dishes classified her with an A+ status in the community and with her family and friends. You could visit the home of Sister McBride and feast at any time of the day or night, and she would serve you with a warm smile. Her pastime was the great outdoor “fishing”. Her motto was ‘If I can just put my hook in the water, I would be a happy camper.’
