Reflections of Life
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Lawrence Alton “Larry” Perkins was born on March 20, 1949 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was the youngest son of Abraham Bernard “Abe” and Ailene Marks Perkins. He passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Abraham Bernard “A. B.” Perkins, Jr., and one nephew.
Larry was a graduate of the Townsend Park High School Class of 1967. He attended Arkansas A.M. & N College, now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He retired from Jefferson Regional Medical Center as a painter after working more than 30 years.
He loved the youth of his community and was very active in youth sports activities. He served as a coach for the International Little League, having coached the Falcons Little League Football Team and Trammell’s Little League Baseball Team. Larry gave his time and energy, as well as his financial support to the efforts of these Little League team members. He was a devoted son to his parents, a compassionate and understanding uncle and cousin to the Perkins and Marks families, and a caring and kind friend to many.
Left to cherish his memories is his aunt, Ms. Virginia (Joe) Todd of Magnolia; his special cousin, Ms. Barbara (Dorsey) Patterson of Menifee; his caregiver, John Jones; and a host of cousins and extended family.
