Josephine Janell Torrence Harris was born in Stephens, Arkansas to the Late Sam and Irene Cross Torrence on March 26, 1954. She departed this life on June 21, 2013.
She attended Carver Elementary in Stephens, AR, Southside Elementary in McNeil and High School in Rockford, Illinois.
Jo confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. She united with Beech Hill A.M.E. Church. She relocated to Marianna, Arkansas and was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, but at the present time of her death, she was a member of Beech Hill A.M.E. Church.
She was a very generous people-person. Her doors were always opened to her many, many friends. Also she dearly loved her family and was a lifelong caregiver for many relatives and friends.
Josephine united in Holy Matrimony to the late Will Harris.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother: Randy Darnell Torrence; niece: Brandi Torrence and a loved cousin:
Jackie McCoy.
Jo leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter: Stacy (Galen) Batts; four (4) grandchildren: her namesake, Josephine Michelle Crawford, Glen II, Elizabeth and Xavier Batts and one (1) great-grandchild: Braylen Johnson all of Indianapolis, Indiana; one (1) sister: Dorothy Faye Whiteing of Michigan; one Aunt, Corine Todd of Stephens, Arkansas; a special cousin: Thomas King Todd; special friends: Rev. Kenneth Todd, Herman Watson and Arlene Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends.
