One grandson; DeKardi Atkins.

John was baptized and united with the Good Hope Baptist Church in 1944 under the leadership of the Late Rev. Samuel B. Morris. He served as an Usher for many years. He had the heart of a servant and a true love for greeting the people with a smile. Dedicated in assisting in any way he could.

He began his education at Sandy Branch School in Buena Vista, AR. He was self-employed and worked in the logging business for over 40 years. John was known as the "BEST" Logger on this side of heaven.

John was united in holy matrimony to Mildred Walker on August 9, 1969 in Camden, Arkansas, to this union two children were born.

Through his illness in the last year, John kept the faith by leaning on the promises of the Lord. John Henry found sweet peace on April 8, 2017 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, AR. His passing marks a chapter completed, a page turned, a life well lived and a life well earned.
