Reflection of Life
James Marshall Haley, to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven, James Marshall was born into time, February 8, 1922 in McNeil, Arkansas. The son of the Late William Louis Haley and Letha V. Watts-Haley. As we return the foot prints of James Marshall, we can only give thanks for the many lives he enriched along life journey. A strong, humble, business minded man and a hard worker. He was blessed to enjoy many of God's blessing as a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.
James Marshall was the third child of ten. He accepted Christ at an early age. He attended school at College Hill and McNeil School District, He joined the Army in 1942 where he spent 3 1/2 years, he attended Arkansas Mechanical and Normal College in Pine Bluff Arkansas in 1977 for 2 years where he major in Agriculture. After finishing at AM & N, he furthered his training in Agriculture in McNeil, Arkansas. He later attended a training school in Los Angeles, CA at West Coast University where he earned a BA degree in Structure Engineering and a minor in Civil Engineering. He transferred to USC where he earned another BA in Civil Structure and Design Engineering. In construction work he worked in California, Arkansas, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois from 1953 to 1968. He decided to start his own company, James Haley Construction Company and worked for many large jobs and developed hugh buildings. The plans and development of his brothers and brother-in-laws, even his sons got in the business when they be came of age. He retired in 1982 after working in Trinadad and Tobago.
On March 21, 2013, daddy departed this life to go home to glory and meet Jesus, his parents: William and Jennie V. Haley, his sisters: Hilda Mae, Helen Mae, Helen Cooper, Essie V. Watson, Ruby Brozell, two brothers: Fred Haley and Doug Haley and a son: Otis Haley.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Ten (10) children: Therman Jane Weston of North Little Rock, AR; Ophelia Haley of Detroit, MI; Arthur Haley; Virginia (Melvin) Meeks of Detriot MI, Linda (Shorter) Thomas of Monticello, AR; Alfred Haley of Detroit, MI, Sharon Kay Haley of Malvern, AR; James Haley, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Orville Haley of Dallas, TX. Three (3) sisters: Dorothy Gene Blake of Sands Spring, OK; Lela Dockery of Hot Springs, AR and Edna Dennis of Waldo, AR and a host of grandchildren, neices and nephews and other relatives and friends.
