OBITUARY

Evangeline Hollins Hawthorne was born July 13, 1945 in McNeil, Arkansas to the late Chester and Algerena Hollins. She departed this life on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at St. Michael Medical Center.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Edward Chapel, under the leadership of the late Elder Hurd. Later she united with Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. James A. Aubrey. After Rev. Aubrey’s’ transition she became under the leadership of Rev. Sylvester Tatum’s leadership where she served faithfully on the Kitchen Committee, Pastor’s Aide, and Pulpit Committee.

She graduated from McNeil High School May 15, 1963 and then attended Southern Arkansas University. She moved to California for a short period of time. After returning to McNeil she met the love of her life, Johnny L. Hawthorne and united in Holy Matrimony, December 21, 1968 and to this union four (4) children were born.
Evangeline worked at Shan House in Magnolia, Arkansas until they closed, then she worked at Kings Inn Hotel in the laundry room and later as a cook in Kroger’s Deli of Magnolia, Arkansas.
Evangeline was a faithful wife, a proud mother and a loyal friend. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Irene Clayton Greene, brothers: Forrest Hollins, John Hollins, Herman Hollins and Leon Hollins.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband: Johnny L. Hawthorne; two (2) sons: Richard (Gwendolyn) Hawthorne; Keith (Nickie) Hawthorne; two (2) daughters: Alga Hawthorne and Angla Hawthorne all of Magnolia, Arkansas, one (1) Godson: Alvin (Shawnaa) Flanigan of Magnolia, AR; one (1) sister: Orene Jones of Waldo, Arkansas; nine (9) grandchildren: Renika Hawthorne, Kendall Hawthorne, Cha’Vontez Davis, Chris’Tasia Davis, Keiana Hawthorne, Keiara Hawthorne, RaKhari Hawthorne, Richard Hawthorne Jr, and Rashod Williams all of Magnolia, Arkansas; two (2) great grandchildren: Jacoby Martin and Aria Christopher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
