Obituary
Mother Elgertie Doss, of Magnolia, Arkansas, passed away on April 12, 2011 at the age of 82 in the Magnolia Medical Center.
Mother Doss was the youngest of four children born to the late Elzitie (Beasley) Roy and Richard W. Roy on September 30, 1928 in Rosston, Arkansas. At a young age, Mother Doss became a member of St. Phillips A.M.E. Church in Magnolia, Arkansas; she retained this church membership for well over 20 years before eventually becoming a member of New Life Ministries Church of God in Christ in Waldo, Arkansas.
During her lifetime, Mother Doss found herself accomplished at various trades. Working in restraints and homes, she established herself as an excellent and respected cook; in particular, Mother Doss was highly regarded for her premier baking. In addition, Mother Doss successfully tried her hand at gardening and upholstery. She also worked as a seamstress. Mother Doss enjoined performing her various talents, but there was nothing she enjoined more than being a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Family was extremely important to Mother Doss and she often went to great measures to ensure that her family was taken care of and happy.
Mother Doss was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cottrell Doss, SR, brother, John Roy, sister, Rosie Wright and 3 children, Larry L. Doss, Alma J. Doss and Paul D. Doss.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: (5) Children, Rosemary (Lincoln) James, of Magnolia, Cottrell (Debora) Doss, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Cathy A Revels of Rialto, CA, James C. Doss and Alvin D. Doss, both of Magnolia, AR. (1) step-daughter, Mea Dean Doss, one sister, Mary Lee Johnson of Magnolia, AR, (9) granddaughters: Dr. Sha’Shonda (David) Revels Luxford of Ypsilanti, MI, Jessica Doss, Jennifer Doss, Giovanna Doss and Jhennicea Doss, all of Phoenix, AZ, Cassandra Revels of Fontana, CA, Ashley Thomas of Ypsilanti, MI, Sha’Tieya Shaw of Waldo, AR, and Shannon Doss of Magnolia, AR; (5) grandsons: Cottrell Doss III of Phoenix, AZ, Marquis Revels of Anchorage, AK, Donavon Revels of Rialto, CA, Roderick Doss of Magnolia, AR, and Brandon Doss of Rialto, CA;( 4)great-grandchildren, Issac, Issaiah, Asyria and Zoie Doss of Phoenix, AZ; ( 4) nieces,( 3) nephews and a host of great-nephews, great-niece, cousins and friends.
