Obituary
Charles Edward Jones, youngest child born to Tafe and Mary Jones of Stephens,Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brothers, Ernest Acie LeeJones and James Grant.
Charles joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church at an early age where he was on theUsher’s Board.
As a young man, Charles resided in Stephens, Arkansas where he attended andplayed basketball at Carver High School. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam for two years,
where receiving numerous medals: the National Defense Service, Vietnam Campaign,Bronze Star, Vietnam Service, Army Commendation, and Good Conduct. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
After serving his country, he was employed by the St. Louis Police Departmentfor a number of years as a Police Officer.
He later returned home to Arkansas where he remained until his home going.
Everyone who knew Charles was aware of how freehearted he was to those in needand even those who weren’t. And if you ever wanted a finger licking home-cooked meal, just ask Charles. He was eager to fix it.
He will be remembered fondly by his wife, Alma Wynn Jones (North Carolina);five daughters, Rochelle (Wisconsin), LaTrenda, Charnitta, Amanda, Crystal (Missouri); sister-in-laws, Velma (Arkansas); Lydia (Nevada); nephews, Anthony Maurice (Dana) and Ernest Charles; Terry (California); niece, Charnita Lynette (Lonnie), Veronica (Nevada);grandchildren; special daughters, Genae, Genetta and Kenya; special friends, Annie and Charles L., and a host of relatives and friends.
