Obituary       


Alvin James Mullins was born June 22, 1949, in Village, Arkansas, to Sterling Mullins and Lettie Mae Moore Mullins. He united with the New Hope Baptist Church in Mt. Holly, Arkansas, at an early age and graduated from New Hope High School in 1967. 

 
Alvin proudly served his country and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army before being employed with General Motors in Flint, Michigan. He retired from GM after 33 years of service.

He was the father of one child, Aaron Mullins, with whom he had a special bond.
Alvin was a master craftsman. He took great pride in fixing things and making them look better than before. It was amazing what he could do with a can of spray paint and some duct tape. 

 
Alvin was preceded in death were his parents, Sterling and Lettie Mullins; sisters, Velma Hildreth and Lucy Mae White; and brother, Earvin Mullins.

Alvin James departed this life on August 13, 2019, at his home in Camden, Arkansas. He leaves to cherish his loving memory one son, Aaron Mullins of Flint, Michigan; two sisters, Earnestine Boone of Smackover, Arkansas, and Dorothy Tolerson (Robert Clay) of Newport, Arkansas; a special friend, Gracie Holley of Smackover, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Anner Mullins of Mt. Holly, Arkansas; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, at New Hope Baptist Church, Mt. Holly, Rev. Jerry Miller, pastor and eulogist, at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Marks Funeral Home of Magnolia. Interment will be New Hope Cemetery.
